Forest Park West Entry — Three years later

August 24th, 2021
Kunshan, China

Forest Park West Entry was designed by PLAT Studio in 2014 and built in 2017. Like many other large scale urban parks, it needed to adapt to the changing urban context. The overarching goal of the project was to connect Forest Park with adjacent neighborhoods. We designed entry points to ensure ease of access and connection to local amenities.

The West Entry functions not only as a programmatic node and connection within the regional trail system, also supporting local ecology and treating the area's stormwater. The project won ASLA-NCC's 2019 Honor Award thanks to the collaboration of our team and the city agency that commissioned the project.

In preparation for an international publication, a photographer visited the site in the fall of 2020. They captured the images below, showcasing the seasonality, nature, and community found at Forest Park.
